The South Bay Ultimate League promotes Ultimate in the San Francisco/San Jose Bay area of Northern California by organizing a co-ed ultimate league during the winter season.
Although each individual game is competitive, there are no season standings kept therefore no champion, runner-up or other team designations are made.

It takes a lot of time and effort for the league to run smoothly.
Many of the tasks that need to be taken care of are small, but if only
a few people are available to do the work all these little things tend
to be overwhelming. There are many people who volunteer to do small
tasks to assist the league, so the roles listed below are those who
coordinate all the volunteers to make sure that the right things
happen at the right time.
Volunteers are always needed for tournaments (including before, during and after the tournaments!). |
| Executive Director | Ali Zuckerbrow |
| The Executive Director's job is to make sure that any and all tasks required to make the league run smoothly are completed on schedule. Much of the time this requires managing the volunteer force that actually does most of the work. The ED is also the spokesperson for the league. | |
| League Treasurer | Pei-Lin Hsiung |
| The treasurer is responsible for all of the leagues finances. In the beginning of the season this involves receiving and processing member applications, verifying that the SBUL and UPA dues are received and accounted for (and occasionally tracking down delinquincies). The treasurer sends checks to the San Jose Parks and Rec folks for the fields, to the UPA so that the SBUL is officially sanctioned, and to many other places to cover fees that the SBUL incurs. | |
| Executive Tournament Director | ** OPEN ** |
| The Executive Tournament Director is responsible for making sure that the SBUL tournaments run smoothly. This involves planning tournaments, locating fields and coordinating volunteers before and on the day of the tournament. | |
| T-shirt Coordinator | Julie Rapoport |
| The T-shirt Coordinator is in charge of making sure that when the league starts, each player has a t-shirt of the appropriate color (and preferably with a cool design on it) to wear. This requires soliciting, reviewing and sometimes adapting artwork, dealing with the t-shirt company selecting colors, placing the order and coordinating delivery. | |
| Disc Coordinator | Julie Rapoport |
| The Disc Coordinator is in charge of making sure that on the day of the final SBUL tournament, each player receives an SBUL disc (preferably with a cool design on it). This requires soliciting and reviewing artwork, working with the artist and Discraft to make sure that it will look good when it is rendered, placing the order and coordinating delivery of the discs. | |
| UPA Coordinator | Mike Sexter |
| The UPA Coordinator is in charge of maintaining an open line of communication with the UPA as we progress through the season. At the beginning of the season we need to notify them that we will require an insurance waiver, then work with them to get this taken care of. As we process new SBUL members, we need to get their information (and their checks) to the UPA with the appropriate roster information. | |
| Fields Coordinator | Colin Cross |
| The Fields Coordinator is in charge of making sure that we have fields to play on throughout the season. We have a long lasting relationship with the Sunnyvale Parks and Recreation department, but it requires a certain amount of maintainenance throughout the season. At the beginning of the season we need to estimate how much field time we need and submit an application. During the season we need to make sure that any field related issues are communicated quickly to the SJP&R for immediate resolution. | |
| Lost and Found Coordinator | Bill Mark |
| The Lost and Found Coordinator is responsible for collecting all the lost items and updating the Lost and Found list on the website. The coordinator must make themselves available at home and work for any player that needs to retrieve an item quickly. | |
| Webmaster | Mike Sexter |
| Maintain the website and mailing list, adding features and fixing any problems. | |
Be sure to thank these people when you see them.
